Q: I can't open the option dialog in Display Control Panel, and when I ran it from Start Menu, a dialog came up saying that Gdiplus.dll is missing.
GDI+ is needed for MemoryShow. It is a library from Microsoft for decoding image files, and is bundled in Windows XP and Vista. For other operating systems, please download it here and copy Gdiplus.dll to the system folder of your Windows.
Q: I got an error saying that DirectX 9.0c is needed.
MemoryShow uses DirectX version 9.0c for 3D acceleration. Please install it here. It doesn't matter whether your graphics card fully supports version 9.0c. If still not works, try updating your graphics driver.
Q: It's not as light-weighted as you mentioned.
Try installing newer version of your graphics driver and DirectX as in the last question. I noticed a high CPU usage on Nvidia driver version 4*.**, which was gone after I updated to version 6*.**.
Q: It doesn't work properly on my Win98/Me.
Maybe due to the lack of Unicode support. Try installing it from Microsoft here.
Q: Some photos are still not rotated correctly.
This software refers to a flag inside your photo that tells the correct direction. Maybe your digital camera can't detect the direction, or maybe some other software mess up the flag. Try rotating the photo in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.
Q: The program hangs if I use CD sound tracks.
Go to Control Panel, Sound and Multimedia, Hardware tab, choose the drive for your CD, click Properties, select Property tab and select the "Enable digital CD audio" check box.
Q: How can I know whether my graphics card supports Pixel Shader?
Download the trial version and run it. If not supported, MemoryShow Pro will tell you at the fist time and disable related options. Effects besides color tone are still applicable without the support of Pixel Shader.
Q: Can I burn the slideshow into a DVD?
Slidshows are generated at runtime and there is no function to encode into DVD format. But you can use softwares that capture game plays into videos, for example Fraps. They work in the same way. Tick the option of "Exit by Esc" then you can use hot keys to capture.
Q: If I want to run it, do I always have to wait for the screensaver to start, or click Preview in the Display Control Panel?
No. You can run it at anytime, directly from Start Menu or Desktop Shortcuts. For choosing photos, instead of the "Configure" shortcut which directs you to the Display Control Panel, you can right-click on the shortcut of "Run MemoryShow Pro Screensaver" and choose "Configure".
